February/March Art Challenges
The current “Geese” art challenge is on display through Sat., March 27. See the works from Art on Boston Gallery artists and instructors as well as some of their students.
The next art challenge will pay homage to the Ostrich Festival. Art on Boston Gallery to close
Due to the continued poor economy, Art on Boston Gallery in historic downtown Chandler will close after nearly three years in business.
Art on Boston opened in April 2007 to represent established and emerging artists, provide group shows for local art organizations, provide working studio spaces and art classes. With the downturn in the economy in 2009, owners Laurie Fagen and Wendy Fallon converted to an all artist participation gallery and the nonprofit Art on Boston Community School of the Arts (CSA) got its start here. Art on Boston also brought in Valley Fever Improv, an improvisational comedy troupe that has been performing twice a month in the gallery.
Artwork will continue to be exhibited at Art on Boston through March 27, and final art classes will be held through the same time.
CSA will continue to operate through its website, www.aobcommunityschoolarts.org and will continue to provide multi-generational art classes and programming in the area.
Valley Fever Improv is seeking a new home in the Chandler/Gilbert area in which to perform, and can be contacted at www.valleyfeverimprov.com.
